Owners of properties on theSunshine Coast that have deep-water access are reluctant to sell their waterfronthomes.
Deep-water access allows residents to moor large ocean-going boats outside their homes.
Real estate agents say owners are hanging on to their properties because they fear if they do sell they may not be able to buy
another house with deep-water access.
The PRDnationwide Sunshine Coast Waterfront Property Report for 2006-7 shows that only two houses at Mooloolaba
with deep-water frontage changed hands between September 2006 and March 2007. They had a median sale price of $2.25 million.
In Minyama, which also has deep-water access, houses sales ranged from $950,000 for a single-level dwelling on Jessica Blvd to $6,605,775 for a two storey house on 1500sq m on Minyama Island.
Buddina, to the east of Minyama, is the most affordale of the Sunshine Coast suburbs with deep-water access.
The median price for deep-water properties there was $1.112 million.
